Over the years Packington Estate has been no stranger to having to accommodate some of the country’s largest infrastructure inclusive of the M6, A45, A452 the west coast main line as well as numerous utility runs.
The proposed High Speed Rail (London to West Midlands) passes through 3.6 km of the Estate and crosses farm land, river terraces and passes close to a number of residential and commercial premises. The impact on the day to day management of the Estate will be very significant and the Estate’s team have petitioned the hybrid bill to ensure that an optimal design is achieved. In addition the Estate will be the location of the HS2 Birmingham Interchange Station and has been pivotal in creating a land owning consortium that will deliver the development of the land around the station. The Arden Cross Consortium
is the vehicle adopted by the landowning consortium to deliver the growth around the station hub.
