Trout fishery report (week ending 18/02/18)

Last week there 28 rods caught 71 fish for an average of 2.53.

It was a very cold week and rod numbers have been down but the fishing was good, particularly at the weekend when temperatures went up a little. Cocks Close has been producing fish in the old boat jetty corner and lodge corner with Cats Whiskers, white Minkies, black Tadpoles and big Damsel Nymphs the pick of the flies.

Rod Lacey of Nuneaton caught the biggest fish of the week, a 6lb rainbow the best of a seven fish catch from a boat on Cocks Close and Rod used his favoured Diawl Bach pattern. Roger Wheat also of Nuneaton caught six fish from the bank of Cocks Close and these came to a Cats Whisker fished on a floating line. Messrs Les Bagnall of Birmingham and Mike Lomax of Stourport shared a boat on Cocks Close and caught 16 fish between them and these all fell to yellow Dancers fished on intermediate lines.

The Trout Fishery is open seven days a week from 8am until dusk.
