FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 06/07/08
Last week there were 95 rods caught 133 fish for an average of 1.40 per rod.
The hot weather at the start of the week brought the water temperatures up and made sport difficult but the cooler conditions at the weekend saw an improvement with the boat anglers scoring particularly well.
The biggest fish of the week was an 8lb rainbow caught Steve Hammonds of Nuneaton who took it on a small black Gnat fished dry from the bank of Cocks Close. Stephen Roberts of Birmingham took a five fish catch from a boat on the Great Pool including a rainbow of 5lb 8oz and these fell to a Cruncher or Hares Ear fished on a floating line. Roy Nicholson of Arley fished a Gold Head Daddy Long Legs from a boat on Cocks Close and caught a 5 fish limit including fish to 3½lb. Ben Foo Collyer of Solihull had fish to 4lb in a seven fish catch from the bank of Cocks Close and all of these were taken on a red CDC Buzzer.
Best patterns are black or olive Buzzer, CDC Emergers, black Gnat, Damsel Nymph, GRHE Nymph and Bloodworm patterns.
The wires bank and lodge corner areas on Cocks Close. On the members’ waters, Great Pool and Hall Pool have both been fishing better at the dam walls in the deeper water.
Cocks Close will remain open until Sunday July 27th at reduced fishing prices,
17.50 – 5 fish, £13.00 – 2 fish, £10 – evening ticket (2 fish). Pensioners will be £10 for
2 fish with no catch and release.
