REPORT

MOLANDS   Carp are showing in increasing numbers with fish to 16lb caught in

matches and a few bigger ones falling to pleasure anglers.  Pegs 8 – 10 and 54 – 58

are the best areas for carp with the method feeder and meat producing decent bags.

The Open matches remain by popular demand, silver fish only and with catches like

Wednesday’s Open with the top 5 weighing over 60lb and on average 42lb per angler

it is not surprising that they are popular.  Bream to 5lb, tench to 4lb and lots of roach,

skimmers and crucians are giving good sport all around the pool.  Chopped worm and

caster on a ground bait feeder is the most popular method but pole and pellet is starting

to catch especially fished shallow.  Best pegs are 2, 4, 10, 13, 31, 45, 46, 55 and 58.

GEARYS    The very changeable conditions through the past week mirrored the fishing

on Gearys with good sport early in the week followed by patchy fishing at the weekend.

Carp to double figures are being caught on floating baits with the candle or dog biscuit

the favoured approach for surface feeders.  Mixed nets of skimmers, tench, roach and

crucians are coming to pole and pellet or chopped worm and caster.  Evening sessions

are usually the best with the fish willing to feed really close in down the margins.

  Best pegs   are 7, 10, 12, 15, 17, 18, 30, 31 and 36.

LITTLE GEARYS    Match catches to nearly 60lb and good general fishing all around have

made for an improvement in the fishing on Little Gearys.  Lots of different methods are

working at the moment with the straight lead and meat or corn fished across to the island

or caster and worm fished down the near shelf are probably the two most productive

methods.  Best pegs are 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 21, 23 and 25.

SIBLINGS   The reed beds along the top end of the pool are providing excellent sport with

tench and carp at the moment.  Catches of up to 25 tench during the morning and evening

sessions are common with meat, paste or big expander pellets working best.  Carp to

double figures are showing and plenty around the 2 – 3lb range.  Those that just want

several bites are fishing maggot or caster and getting lots of roach, skimmers, rudd and

the odd tench.  Best pegs 1, 11, 13, 18, 19 and 20.

ANNIVERSARIES   Good mixed nets on caster, worm and pellet with tench to 4lb,

crucians to 2lb, roach and skimmers.  It is advisable to fish tight to the islands or down

the margins for best results.  Best pegs 1, 2, 9, 13, 17 and 20.

WILLOW   Lots of tench and small carp are coming to pellet, meat or paste fished down

the margin.  Good for bites if you fish caster, maggot or small expander pellet with roach

and skimmers always obliging.  Best pegs 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 12.

GRATUITIES   Lots of small carp, crucians and roach are coming to the short pole with

pellet, maggot or corn with a few bigger carp and tench coming to spice things up.

Pleasure catches to over 50lb are common palce and this is a lot of bites.  Best pegs are

1, 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16.
